Greyhound of the Month - February 2019
Greyhound of the Month award for February went to the Tony Rasmussen trained Shima Breeze, who made it back to back awards in the first two months of this year after she had another great month of racing on the big stage.

Shima Breeze started the month of with a strong win at The Meadows in Grade 5 company running a slick 29.89. She was then selected into a heat of the Group 1 Australian Cup, considered one of the hardest races to win on the National calendar. She ran brilliantly to lead for most of the race before being run down in the shadows of the post by Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner, My Redeemer. Her time of 29.78 was quick enough to have her declared the first reserve for the prestigious event in early March and with a scratching in the event she took her place with Group 1 company.

At the end of the month Shima Breeze’s record stood at 31 starts with 15 wins and 12 placings and earnings around $85,000.
